The Kansas City-Style (KC-Style) BBQ Sauce (Low Sugar)
When most Americans think barbecue sauce, they likely think of Kansas City-Style. This sticky-sweet barbecue sauce-style was meant to be brushed on ribs. For our recipe, Legendary Pitmaster Ed Mitchell went back to an era before corn syrup reigned supreme and sweetened ours with butternut squash, carrots, and a touch of light brown cane sugar. It has the same texture and sweetness of most modern sauces, but without all the added sugar. Thick and sweet, you can freely pour this veggie-packed staple on whatever just came off the smoker, the grill, or the stove top—guilt-free. Our KC-Style has one-third the added sugar of leading KC-style bbq sauces.
Please note this product is our only product that contains added sugar and thus is not Whole30 or Paleo.
The Memphis BBQ Sauce (No Sugar)
Memphis is the crossroads of American barbecue. African-Americans immigrated to Memphis for jobs from all over the South in the early 20th Century and they brought their different styles of BBQ with them, merging, like the Blues music that came out of Memphis, into its own unique, regional flavors. A Memphis "wet sauce" is usually a mix of the bold, spicy influences from Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana and the sweeter, heavier tomato-based sauces from Kansas City and St Louis. Our Memphis-style BBQ Sauce pulls on these classic crossroad flavors by rounding out a sweet-tomato based sauce, naturally sweetened with veggies and fruits, with the strong flavors of cayenne and black pepper.
The Central Texas BBQ Sauce (No Sugar)
Like Texas, real Texas barbecue is strong, not sweet. A long history of cattle herding formed Texas’ barbecue roots around beef, and the sauce followed suit. Legendary Pitmaster Ed Mitchell makes our sauce with beef broth, regional spices and American-grown veggies for homegrown flavor. This bold and spicy blend was made for brisket, burnt ends, and any other beef dish that could use a dollop of Texas-sized flavor.
